Choosing the right USB Mic

Tip #1 - Cheap or Expensive


The choice narrows down if you're are serious about using this for school work to get good results, do not buy cheap. Cheap is exactly what it is ..Cheap

Tip #2 - Sensitivity


This relates to how sensitive the mic is to sounds.

Microphone sensitivity is typically measured with a 1 kHz sine wave at a 94 dB sound pressure level (SPL). so check this rating of the USB mice witho others before you buy

Tip #3 - Polar Patterns

These are patterns of the "pick up range", they go from bi-directional (front and back) to Cardiod (pick up from front), omni-directional (picks up all around)


Tip #4 - Phantom Supply


Some USB mics require an external power source which is usually from the interface 48V


Tip #5 - Ruggedness

If you are going to be moving the mic from place to place ensure they are built to be moved around
